Rediff is doing a fair bit in mobile content in India recently…It has announced a tie-in with television magazine GR8 TV (which seems to be part of the Indian Television Academy and not, for example Gr8.tv) to market news and information about TV stars to cell phone users. Consumers will be able to access the magazine’s content through mobile alerts. Premium offerings such as wallpapers, screensavers, mobile alerts and video clips will be available to subscribers with a GPRS wireless network connection.
The Indian mobile phone market is growing fast, with a base of almost 60 million subscribers. And so is the television market, which currently has more than 100 entertainment and news channels in English and Indian languages. GR8 is developing a suite of mobile products based on its content to cater to young viewers who use mobile phones, Rediff said. (via our sister site ContentSutra)
