S. Korea Mulls Ban On Mobile TV For Motorists

A South Korean politician has submitted a bill to make it illegal to watch satellite digital television on mobile phones while driving a car. This makes sense — if talking and sending messages to people distracts drivers, watching TV would also.
The article goes on to say: “The bill, if adopted, is expected to deal a severe blow to the satellite digital TV service, offered by a unit of SK Telecom, the nation’s top mobile phone operator.” I don’t quite follow this…I hope that the Sth Korean mobile TV industry was not banking on a large slice of revenue from people watching TV while driving. Passengers, sure, but not drivers.
On a related note, Canadian telco Telus Mobility has launched a MobiTV service for $15 per month, with channels currently including CBC Newsworld, Fox News, G4Tech TV, Le Reseau de l’information, MeteoMedia, The Shopping Channel and the Weather Network.
