Bambi calls the Playboy PR bluff…last week it announced the launch of an electronic/digital edition, and media outlets jumped on it as a major story, something I criticized.
“Yet for a company that prides itself on being a veteran of the digital world — having been the first national magazine on virtual newsstands in 1994 — it is odd that it would take at least another decade to make available the entire magazine’s content….Unfortunately, online readers know where to go for interviews, great articles and the other stuff. And, it’s not Playboy.”
This one clinches the deal for me: “Let’s just say that there is only so much you can do to spruce up an interview. I don’t believe that giving the magazine a flipping-the-pages feel will be enough.”
