BrightCove: Information Architect

Brightcove is a venture-backed start-up pioneering a new online service for the delivery of Internet TV.

This is a rare opportunity to play a role in shaping the future of interactive media at Brightcove. You will work alongside a talented team of software, Web and media veterans from companies such as Allaire, ATG, Comcast, Lycos, Macromedia and News Corp., led by the company’s founder and Internet pioneer Jeremy Allaire.

We’re looking for an individual who is passionate about digital storytelling, interactive media and the future of television, is self-motivated, and thrives in a very fast-paced, dynamic environment.

First and foremost, the right candidate should have the following characteristics:

Responsibilities

–Develop, evaluate, iterate and implement high quality detailed UI specifications and visual designs for complex projects, including use cases, flow diagrams, wireframes and final documentation

–Collaborate with visual designers and engineers to implement and iterative UE designs

–Design usability test plans, conduct or oversee usability testing, and iterate designs throughout user testing

–Translate usability research finding into design improvements

Required Background

–3+ years Information Architecture experience with strong Interaction Design expertise in a Web or online services environment.

–Some experience with Rich Internet Application development and on multimedia-centric projects, including video or audio user interface development.

–Academic background in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Human Factors or related discipline.

–Proven experience and a portfolio that includes different IA deliverables (annotated wireframes, flow diagrams, sitemaps, design patterns, etc), and the ability to adapt them to different uses, projects and constraints.

–Prior experience as a key member of a UI team contributing to product development cycles of successful website launches and software application products.

–Ability to solve complex issues as well as supply technically viable design alternatives

–Strong written and verbal communication skills .

–Experience using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to create IA deliverables, as well as the ability to quickly learn how to use new tools and methods.
