The article harks back to a deal the content providers made with Telstra’s main rival Optus back in June…”An Optus spokesperson today said the Telstra initiative was “purely an agreement for the provision of mobile content and does not compare to the deep level of integration and personalisation Optus consumers will enjoy”.
I think this will happen increasingly often, as large content brands make “exclusive” deals with operators but farm out different (and probably lesser) packages with other operators…or the operators find another way into the market, such as Verizon making deals with individual NFL teams after Sprint stitched up an exclusive contract with the NFL. Exclusivity is becoming common…
