That’s according to a report in LABJ. Yahoo, which had leased a big portion of Colorado Center in Santa Monica earlier this year –256,000 square feet in Colorado Center for 10 years– is almost doubling its space in that area in a lease deal valued at $80 million.
It will sublease 150,000 square feet being abandoned by Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer, and take another 64,000 square feet of soon-to-be-vacant space. By November 2007, the company will occupy nearly 470,000 square feet, or 43 percent, of the 1.1 million-square-foot Colorado Center.
The deal with Yahoo ensures that Colorado Center, which is being renamed Yahoo Center, will be largely occupied for the foreseeable future.
This could mean two things: firstly that’s its Yahoo Media Group may be expanding faster than they expected, or that the company is planning to move down more divisions that planned earlier.
