The interesting thing about this piece is diversification…Sandager Small Games mostly sells Java games but is looking to “expand the range of light, popular, in-expensive applications” to “increase the target groups for mobile content”, quoted selectively from CEO Michael Buch andager. It has enrolled Touchlink Mobile to create Celeb Calandar, which basically spiffs up a ubiquitous mobile feature — in this case adding pictures of celebrities to the calandar. The more utility minded people won’t go for it but there is likely to be a market…The background picture of the celebrity (the initial roll call is Paris Hilton, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguillera, Robbie Williams and Jeniffer Lopez) changes every month, and it will be interesting to know whether the pictures are included with the application or whether they are downloaded wirelessly (after the first few, of course). I think it’s the first, but if it’s the later it would likely get people to use the calandar for longer, enable them to change the celebrity whenever they want (assuming the application was planned that way) and generate an ongoing revenue stream for Sandager. They don’t have to charge much for the pictures, probably just the price of a message. I’m sure there are some other things you could do, such as download dates related to the celebrities (concerts, movie debuts that sort of thing). Or perhaps I’m getting a little carried away, after all it is just a calandar.
It’s good for Touchlink though, the agreement involves them making new calandars every two months with different celebrities…
