The Yahoo-Verizon deal was officially announced today (the release here). The offer comes two months after rival phone company SBC announced a $14.95-a-month plan for its DSL service, with twice the speed for lower price.
Much as the parties involved try to stay civil, there’s bound to be some heartburn, as this quote from SBC spokesperson highlights: “It’s nice to see them following in our footsteps once again,” said Michael Coe, a spokesman for SBC. “They’re following the same partnership model with Yahoo and the same pricing. The only thing they haven’t followed us on is speed.” Wonder what the internal dynamics at SBC are…
MSN-Verizon: This largely displaces a similar deal Verizon had with Microsoft for MSN to be its Web portal.
