The BBC has some more initiatives in the mobile area. There’s the deal with Rok Player to put Red Dwarf and Dr Who on its multi-media card technology…the deal with Red Dwarf was announced in January but it sounds like its actually being made available.
The Beeb is also talking with VoxSurf regarding their dynamic mobile video messaging platform, with the view to enabling BBC viewers to use a push-to-video application to send in their own video reports from various newsworthy events. And of course there’s the preview clips of the comedy Nighty Night which can be streamed by SMSing Nighty to 81010.
The BBC is trialing a lot of new things in the mobile and online markets, which should help pave the way for commercial companies to follow.
