UBM Buys Three Media Companies For $56.5 Million

(sub. req.) One of those companies is Light Reading, on which we wrote a separate note earlier. It also bought Informex, a US chemicals events business, for $24m and TechOnLine, a US online electronics business media platform for $5.5m.

Release: The second one, TechOnLine, is an online community of more than 335,000 electronics engineering professionals. Its business comprises three separate units: Marketing & Promotional Services (encompassing online webcasting, sponsorship programs and email marketing), E-Training and VirtuaLab, an online electronics evaluation tool. TechOnLine’s key business is its Marketing & Promotional Services unit. In the 12 months to June 2005, this business generated revenues of $3.0m and EBITDA of $0.8m.

Analysts expects more substantial acquisitions from UBM, following the sale of its automotive media unit.
