The New York Times Media Group, the New England Media Group and the Regional Media Group combined turned in a 31.8-percent increase in online ad revenues in July 2005 compared with July 2004. The New York Times Company attributes some of the increase to “strong growth in dispal advertising and in all classified advertising categories.” YTD, online revenue is up 29 percent.
About.com continues to turn in high increases. Ad revenues for July was up approximately 73 percent and is up 33 percent so far this year. The increases are based on the books kept when About was part of Primedia, which is why the numbers are approximate. (There were four additional days in fiscal July compared with the calendar month used last year.) You’ll hear more regarding About and its integration into NYTCO later today when we post an interview with Scott Meyer, president and CEO.
