Google acquired start-up Android Inc. in July, according to Business Week’s Ben Elgin — and, with it, co-founder Andy Rubin, who earlier started Danger Inc., and other engineering talent. Not much is known about the company, which has been described as making software for mobile phones. BW was told one project involved a mobile OS. Google confirmed the acq-hire: “We acquired Android because of the talented engineers and great technology. We’re thrilled to have them here.” No deal terms.
Others on the Android team include Andy McFadden, who worked with Rubin at WebTV and then for Moxi Digital; Richard Miner, at Orange prior to Android; and co-founder Chris White, who worked with Rubin and McFadden at WebTV.
