I made some basic calculations based on Washington Post’s two recent 10-Q filings, and the acquisition cost for Slate, which was acquired in November last year and closed in Q1 this year, seems to be about $17 million. The company hadn’t publicly disclosed the purchase price when announcing the deal, but Staci wrote about a similar range ($15-20 million) back when the deal was announced.
Not that it matters now, but if Slate had held on another 6-8 months, it would have probably gotten way better valuation than that. But then again, there was no way to know then…
