Sprint has finalized its deal with NFL for a five-year deal to become the league’s official wireless sponsor. No financial details were released, though previously the deal was rumored to be in the $200 million range with the total potential value reaching $600 million over the life of the contract.
The deal means that Sprint will provider exclusive game highlights, updated scores, live game video and Fantasy Football statistics to its wireless customers. It is also working with the NFL to develop much of the original programming, which will feature content from the NFL Network and NFL Films.

Sprint just completed its merger with Nextel last week…Nextel has a 10-year $700 million sponsorship deal with NASCAR’s Nextel Cup Series.
Update: WaPo: The story says that Sprint Nextel had agreed to pay the NFL a $200 million fee over five years. Sprint Nextel also agreed to buy $100 million in advertising on the league’s website and its cable network as well as at least $300 million in ads from TV broadcasters that air NFL games.
