Autonomy has upgraded its mobile search service to appeal to network operators who want to provide consumers with targeted opt-in mobile content, such as videos or ring tones. According to the press release the upgrade “enables providers to profile the way users interact with information on the handset in order to deliver targeted shopping and advertising suggestions to individual handsets”. This sort of technology will become commonplace as carriers and other content providers strive to put content in front of consumers which the consumers are likely to buy.
