More On News Corp.’ s Search For Search

News Corp.: Two entries that probably should have been on our original list — Miva, which includes FindWhat.com, and closed slightly down on Nasdaq Thursday at $5.85, and LookSmart, which just launched an education search vertical, and closed on Nasdaq Thursday at $0.64, making it very affordable. LookSmart also includes Furl.net, a bookmark storage/retrieval service that could make a good fit with MySpace.com and other FIM endeavors.
Don’t assume FIM will acquire only one search company. It could pick up several for a relatively low price.
Quick note about CNET — I’ve heard from multiple sources that CNET wants somewhere around $2 billion, which moves it far out of modest acquisition range. I’d also put News Corp. in the list of companies that wouldn’t want all of CNET but would be interested in some pieces.
