Michael Jones sent me an e-mail pointing to this nifty offering, a search engine for ringtones called Ringbits. The company has licensed Google’s search technology and returns relevant results for searches — at least for the big names such as Snoop Dog and P.Diddy, although Leondard Cohen also has some ringtones available…None of the actors I tried returned any voice tones, but I’m not sure if that’s because the search engine doesn’t cover them or the actors I tried had simply not made any, which is highly likely. They’ve also got a very comprehensive list of genres.
UPDATE: The UK version is available here: http://www.ringbits.co.uk/
4INFO also has some mobile music search news…It has signed a deal with the CMJ Network to provide mobile search for the 25th Anniversary CMJ Music Marathon to enable attendees of the event to search by venue, artist, film, panel or date and receive complete event schedule results with detailed time and location information. CMJ fans will also be able to sign up for text-message alerts by subscribing to the CMJ alerts service on 4INFO.
