Earnings: Disney’s “Open Mike” Eisner

: Updated: The official Disney earnings call got underway with a tribute to Peter Jennings — after a couple of unscheduled minutes featuring Chairman & CEO Michael Eisner, President & COO Bob Iger and CFO Tom Staggs, who didn’t realize the mike was open. In fact, when Eisner finally asked, he was told they weren’t live.
Just had a chance to listen to the recording. Eisner mused about the market closing up despite the fed rate increase. “The Fed raised rates. The stock market reacted positively. That was odd,” he said. Then a woman tries to convince them to wait until the call starts followed Iger (I initially thought it was Eisner), saying, “Once more into the breach, my friends.”
Luckily for them, this didn’t sound like the corporate equivalent of Ronald Reagan’s unforgettable “the bombing starts in five minutes.”
