Last evening I went to see GoingDotCom -the Musical. The producers call it a “loving look back at a bygone era.” It was the last public performance of the show which well made fun of the whole dotcom madness. How appropriate, because we are enterting a new era of insanity. Baidu.com, a Chinese search engine whose main business is finding illegal videos and audio for download, has gone public and now trading for nearly $123 a share. If that’s not a throwback, then what is. Incidentally I was at a search conference a little while back, and somebody thrust a flyer in my palm – looking for angel funding, contact …. So if a new era of madness does arrive, I am looking forward to launch parties!
