A Malaysian paper has given some advice on children using mobile phones, and cited three main areas of concern…Content, Commercialism, and Contact. “Content” refers to children accessing inappropriate content through mobile phones, and its refreshing to find the focus not just on pornography but also on hate sites and sites with “information on tools for violence, cults, drugs, and eating disorders”. “Commercialism” refers to children being made the subject of direct marketing, bypassing the parents, and “Contact” refers to paedophiles trying to set up meetings. There’s a fairly interesting talk on the best way to prevent children accessing inappropriate content, using the UK experience as a background.
