A good story on the big-level investments in media/content from PE firms. From the debut fund of $1.8 billion raised by a new guy on the block, Elevation Partners, to the more modest $250 million target private-equity and investment-banking firm Beringea has for its third Global Rights Fund, money is chasing opportunities in the sector.
Beringea invests an average of $10 million in deals with a total value of around $50 million, including debt. At the larger end of the scale is Elevation Partners, a new San Francisco-based private-equity firm that includes U2’s Bono as a director.
Elevation Partners plans to invest exclusively in content owners – the world of media has moved on and content is where the opportunities are, according to co-founder Roger McNamee.
