Why ground the shuttles with one in space?

As discussion has intensified over potential problems with the shuttle re-entry due to the foam problems I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed over NASA’s public grounding of the shuttles while Discovery is in space.  This is something that could surely have waited until the Discovery is safely back home.  I know that NASA is trying to be more open with the public but let’s give some consideration to the men and women up in space right now.  May they return safely and triumphantly.

I agree, & while we’re on the topic of the Shuttle, had the misfortune of seeing the NBC coverage of the liftoff. The Talking Head spoke right over the top of the Cape Canaveral guy. Is there any better time, ever, than that, to just shut up & listen to the guy running the show? Not every nano-second needs to be filled with blather from a TV Talking Head. His need to hear the sound of his own voice, drowned out the sound of the Booster rockets! Ok, I feel better now. :-)
