Vivendi Universal, the French media and telecommunications conglomerate, reported higher 2005 first-half revenues on strength in its mobile phone and electronic games divisions.
Universal Music Group’s reported revenue fell 3 percent to 1.05 billion euros ($1.26 billion) but rose 5 percent on a like-for-like basis once exchange rate effects were excluded. Digital sales represented 5.5% of UMG’s total revenues.
Sales at Vivendi’s long-struggling video games division jumped by 76 percent to 125 million euros ($150 million) on the wings of its hit online game World of Warcraft.
