Sohu.com, one of the big Chinese portals, reported that its profit fell 28 percent in Q2. Its profits were $7.1 million, compared with $9.9 million a year earlier. Revenue slipped to $25.9 million from $27.3 million, including ad revenue of $17 million and non-ad revenue of $8.9 million.
Sohu has been scrambling to diversify its revenue streams away from text messaging and into advertising after a government crackdown, which began over a year ago, against content such as ad*lt and s*am.
