RealNetworks: Director of Evangelism, Rhapsody Music Service, SF

The Music Division of RealNetworks is looking for an experienced candidate to lead a key new strategic initiative to drive the far-reaching use of its Rhapsody music service through the web. In addition to implementing this initiative with thousands of music-related websites, this person is responsible for developing several strategic partnerships to build momentum for this major initiative.

The Director of Evangelism is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a host of programs to reach out to a wide variety of music destination sites. These partners will leverage our music service and platform to enhance the experience for their own users. RealNetworks currently enjoys the largest on-line music subscription service and this effort is an important strategic initiative to extend that lead. You will be a key member of the music team and will manage a cross functional team of people from Product Management, Engineering, Business Development, and Marketing.

The primary metrics of success will be launching this initiative on schedule and quickly getting the largest number of web sites possible to integrate these services into their sites. Without a large sales force, this experienced candidate must be able to design and manage this evangelist program from scratch in order to generate excitement and demand among thousands of web sites. This will include speaking engagements and evangelizing at industry conferences, researching and targeting major Web developers, and creating automated on-line programs.

Experience and Skills Required: A minimum of two years as a content or service company evangelist or running a developer program for a software or internet company. Direct experience setting up and running an Internet-based evangelist program is highly desired. Related marketing experience will be considered. Music and/or digital entertainment experience is also highly desirable; however, is not a prerequisite. You must have experience negotiating business/partnership deals. This position will combine strong technical knowledge and creative problem solving skills with business, marketing and interpersonal skills. The candidate must have excellent project management skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet aggressive goals. Strong analytical and operational skills will be a critical success factor. Candidates must be able to succeed in a highly matrixed environment and a practiced self-starter with strong communication skills is essential. Educational Background: An undergraduate degree is required. A MBA or equivalent experience is highly desired
