Like we said, musical chairs. While some fixate on the few people who’ve left Yahoo because they weren’t happy with the new Yahoo Media Group and/or got big promotions, Yahoo continues to hire. This time it’s Cyrus Krohn leaving MSN Video for Lloyd Braun’s group in Santa Monica; no details yet on what he will be doing but keep in mind that Krohn, Slate’s first employee, was publisher of the online magazine when Microsoft sold it to the Washington Post Company. He succeeded Scott Moore in that position and moved to MSN Video as executive producer when Slate was sold. Moore left for Yahoo last spring, where he’s VP-Content overseeing news, finance and personal tech.
MSN has taken some other hits on the content side: Andy Beers left MSN Video earlier this summer to set up his own consulting firm; Yahoo is a client. In addition, I’ve learned that intrepid traveler Richard Bangs, who has been doing some cool travel editorial for MSN, also has joined Yahoo to do — just a guess now — something with travel content.
And that’s not the end of the MSN departure list; more later.
