Earnings: Verisign’s Content Revs For Q2: $165 Million

Verisign, the online and mobile infrastructure and content company, has reported good wireless related revenues. It content sector revenues– Jamba, Jamster, SMS and MMS inter-operatibility services and now LightSurf– were $175 million, up 21 percent sequentially. Of those, LightSurf was about $10 million, so Jamba and Jamster combined came in at $165 million, up 15 percent sequentially (down from 50 percent increase in Q1 05) but as CEO Stratton Sclavos said in the conference call, those could have been $7 million higher had the dollar not strengthened.
Some very interesting figures:
— Of that $165 million, $122 million came from Europe and rest of world (Jamba) and $43 million came from U.S. (Jamster)
— Jamba revenues in Europe were down 8 percent sequentially, mainly due to higher churn rate, and impact of strengthning dollar
— Of U.S. revenues, about $16 million was one time carry over from Q1.
— The U.S. run rate is about $27 million dollars, and VRSN says it is poised to bring in $100 million in its first year of market entry.
