Online continues to provide the best news for the New York Times Company: online ad revenues were up 27 percent. Even better, in its first full quarter as part of NYTCO, About.com, which reports as a separate unit, is estimated to have increased ad rev by 39 percent. About showed an operating profit of $2.5 million on total 2Q05 revenue of $12 million. For the full year of 2004, About.com’s revenues were about $36 million. NYTCO reported a drop in net income over 2Q04 — $60.8 million compared with $75.7 million, including a $10 million charge for staff-reduction costs.
