This is interesting because it brings together a number of interesting things, such as location-based services and user-generated content. The idea is about a system that allows users to profer tips and ratings of different things within a defined space — such as shops within the Kista Galleria shopping mall.
“Comments given by one person are made available to another when users pass each other in the mall, when they approach connection hot spots, or on demand.”
The project is a prototype being used to “reseach hypotheses about mobile services as a whole, about distributed recommender systems, about social computation”, and only works on the P800. However, I can see the attraction for certain places to license and install the technology…although it might result in a lot of stores putting up fake tips as ads…and possibly some other inappropriate content.
