Showtime CEO Matthew Blank and entertainment president Robert Greenblatt gave a speech at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in LA on Saturday, and both had some oblique reasoning on why their company is not doing more online. (Even though the company has done some good work with premiering “Fat Actress” show online (on Yahoo)
Blank: “We develop our programming for an environment where Showtime is invited into every home, and that’s very important to us. So I think we have to be somewhat cautious when we go to certain mediums where, perhaps, we haven’t been invited, and we’re not in the business of trying to offend anybody that didn’t want us in their home.”
Uh huh…right.
