Superscape, the UK-based publisherof 3D mobile games, has bought out its much smaller U.S. rival Penultimate Games for $3.0 million in cash. Penultimate, based in Palo Alto-CA, is the developer of mobile chess games. In 200, Penultimate Games reported profit before tax of $444,000 from sales of $716,000.
The news comes the same day Superscape has put itself for sale: The group said it was considering all strategic options available to it, including a sale of the company, adding “Investors should note that the strategic review remains at a very early stage and at this point no advisers have been appointed.” The rumors put EA and Jamdat as possible suitors for Superscape.
Superspace recently raise the ire of the UK financial markets recently by raising GBP 20 million ($35 million) in an open share placing, and then almost immediately warning on profits for the year.
