Looks like another acq-hire … two-person WorkZoo, a vertical meta-search engine for job boards, is now part of Jobster; the idea is to mix meta-search with social networking. No financial details. WorkZoo was founded in the UK in 2001 by Mark Maunder and Kerry Boyte, but moved to California. The search engine receives more than 600,000 unique searches and averages five million page views per month. Jobster founder and CEO Jason Goldberg told the Seattle Times, “Finding information about jobs is really easy. The real value is in combining the search technology with the social-networking technology.”
Jobster plans to introduce a self-branded integrated service later this year; WorkZoo will stay uop in the meantime. Jobster also will integrate the Google Maps API into the new platform. The husband-and-wife team are moving to Seattle; Maunder will oversee Jobster search technologies while Boyte works elsewhere in the company.
