A study by LogicaCMG has found that about 20% of mobile phone users around the world have downloaded content to their handsets, with the percentage rising to 60% in one year’s time.

There’s a number of interesting points to note here… First off is the reasonably high percentage of users keen to access full-length films on their mobiles. Considering the number of people who have mobile phones, 11% in Asia Pacific and 8% in Europe and South America is not to be sneezed at. Second is the much higher percentage of people in Asia Pacific and South America keen to access mobile content…which can be put down to a lack of alternative channels. If you don’t have a computer, you are more likely to want to play games on your mobile. This could lead to those two regions dominating the mobile content space in the future…
Speaking of which, the other graph in the article demonstrates how people want to pay for mobile content, and Asia Pacific and South America mainly want to pay for content by having it deducted from their prepay credits, which is unsurprising considering the vast majority of plans in those regions are prepay.
