London Attacks: Mobile Networks Feel The Strain

A series of explosions on the London Underground at the start of the G8 Summit has caused strain on the mobile networks as people try to contact friends and family to ensure they are safe. The telcos went into ‘emergency overload’ procedures, setting aside some capacity to be used by the emergency services. Since the situation is temporary it would be a good idea to restrict access to some mobile content so more people could make the phone calls they were trying to make. News and traffic services should be unaffected, but things like music videos could be safely put on hold for a few hours…
