Live 8 Mobilized

Live8 LogoLive 8 was a big musical success, although whether that will translate into action from the leaders of the G8 remains to be seen. There’s a bit of news around concerning Live 8 on mobile phones…
Mobix Interactive has teamed up with Artisan News to produce “a full package of Live 8 video clips from all the concert locations across the globe…The full package was available to network operators globally for both 2.5 and 3G. Camilla Crabbe, Head of Content emphasized the Live 8 package was “unique to mobile and of huge interest to the networks”. As well as performance highlights the package includes news and interviews with the ‘stars’, such as Nelson Mandela, Brad Pitt and Bill Gates.
iTAGG.com — which provided the MMS structure which allowed people to send in images from their mobile phones to the giant screens surrounding the Hyde Park concert — revealed that the number of MMS messages peaked at over 200 a minute…which equates to a lot less than 15 minutes of fame.
MobiTV and ABC News are making the Live 8 “Africa Calling” concert from Cornwall in England available across the US…I think. The head says that but body doesn’t say anything about that at all. What we do know is that MobiTV provided a live mobile broadcast of the “Africa Calling” concert — which solely featured acts from Africa — and that MobiTV has deals with Sprint PCS, Cingular and some regional carriers.
British newspaper The Mirror is selling ringtones from the artists who performed at Live 8 and donating proceeds to Live 8… its also selling pictures from the concert.
