Summer Cleaning: CEO Out at Mobliss; Digital Chocolate Layoffs

A couple of mid-sized players in the mobile content industry have done some summer cleaning over the last week or so:
Mobliss: Mobliss, the Seattle based mobile content company bought out by Japanese mobile content giant Index Corp about year ago, has replaced its CEO and has done a bunch of senior level layoffs, according to sources. It will focus now primarily on the B2B market…
This is not surprising considering parent Index has let its French subsidiary 123Multimedia enter U.S….it has recently opened up an office in NYC, and Mark Frieser, who was the founder of the now-defunct mobile consultancy Consect, and briefly stopped over to work at Nielsen Mobile, is heading North America operations…
Digital Chocolate: Digital Chocolate, the San Mateo, CA based mobile gaming company run by Trip Hawkins, has been having teething troubles from the start, mainly related to executive retention and struggling to get distribution, despite a huge amount of PR buzz, and backing from big name venture firms like Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sequoia Capital.
