EMI Music North America: Senior Director of Digital Business Development, NYC

Position Overview:

EMI Music North America is seeking a Senior Director of Digital Business Development. Reporting to the Company’s Senior Vice President of Mobile and Digital Development, the person will have significant outward and inward facing responsibilities and be a key member of the company’s Digital Business Development group.

Responsibilities

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. Execute on the company’s digital business development strategy by identifying and negotiating digital and mobile distribution partnerships across multiple product types and business models.

RELATIONSHIP ASSESSMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS – Maintain active relationships with digital partners and develop a keen understanding of their businesses and performance. Communicate effectively the findings of partner performance and develop proposed courses of action within the digital arena.

DIGITAL OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT – Help to operationally integrate new partnerships throughout the organization by communicating, managing, and coordinating with the company’s Finance, Royalties, Reporting, Digital Operations, and Marketing departments as well as its record labels.

DEAL ANALYSIS. Conduct financial and strategic analyses of the various partnerships the company is considering and communicate the findings to other members of the Digital Business Development group and senior management of the company.

Requirements:

– 4-year college degree; MBA preferred but not essential.

– 10 years of work experience; at least 5 years in business development; at least 3 years in digital or mobile media. Knowledge and/or experience in music industry a plus.

– Strong understanding of and interest in digital and mobile media, particularly music services.

– Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.

– Seasoned and skilled negotiator.

– Strong financial background and ability to conduct analysis, interpret data and concisely communicate findings.

– Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and to effectively prioritize deal flow to maximize efficiency of the company’s business development efforts.

– Highly motivated, impeccably organized, self-directed and flexible. Able to handle many projects concurrently with minimal supervision.

– Strong knowledge and experience with emerging technologies and the ability to evaluate new technology-driven business models.

– Comfortable taking on projects in unfamiliar subject matters.
