India's Game Developers Target Outsourcing

San Jose Mercury News: This is a profile of Rajesh Rao, CEO of Bangalore-based Dhruva Interactive, a game development company. Although Rao is at pains to convince the interviewer that his company is not a sweatshop for international gaming companies, the story has taken a line that companies like his are targeting outsourcing work from the US.
The story says salaries in India for game developers are about a third of what they are in the U.S. So game publishers are beginning to realize they could make games in India for much cheaper than it costs to make them in the U.S.
Rao scored a big publicity coup this year since he and his company were highlighted in the bestselling book
