Akamai Merges Speedra India Operations To Its Global Business

DeepikaGlobal: Leading global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, Akamai Technologies has completed acquisition of Indian operations of Speedera Networks to enhance its penetration worldwide.
Akamai Chief Executive Officer Paul Sagan told newsmen that the stock for stock transaction worth about $130 million would augment the Company’s research and development besides increasing its business through significant customer acquisitions, including a number of high profile Indian enterprises.
Akamai provided businesses with a cost effective distributed platform for accessing web computing and capacity on demand worldwide without having to make significant upfront investments in infrastructure.
Mr Sagan said the Bangalore operations would further solidify Akamai’s leadership position in the new ”demand economy’, the rapidly emerging market for broad band commerce, and the exchange and consumption of information, data and entertainment. Industry analysts estimate the entire market for on line spending at over $316 billion by 2010.
He said India had certainly helped to lead the way and has benefited from learning to satisfy a new generation of global customers now using the internet.
