Mobile Users Avoid Mobile Content

Telcos across Europe are finding people are spending around half as much on mobile phone services as they were several years ago. Of course, its normal for the price of new technology and new services to fall over time, and since 3G networks allow voice to be delivered cheaper its good that the cost-cutting is being passed on to the consumer. However, telcos have been banking on mobile content to make up the shortfall in ARPU, and so far this hasn’t been happening.
Still, the general consensus of the article is that content will pick up the slack eventually, and although its moving slowly it is moving. In the words of Graeme Ferguson of Vodafone: “What a lot of people don’t remember is that SMS was also very slow.”
