Access has announced that its NetFront full Internet mobile browser has been selected by NTT DoCoMo for deployment in its 3G FOMA N901iS handset. The browser shrinks web pages to fit on mobile screens to obviate the need for horizontal scrolling, and also supports Adobe Reader LE, which lets PDFs be read on mobile screens.
NTT DoCoMo’s i-Mode system has also received a global boost with eight telcos banding together to buy cheap handsets from LG Electronics. The operators in the deal are Australia’s Telstra, Greece’s Cosmote Mobile Telecommunications, Italy’s Wind Telecomunicazioni and companies from Germany, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Belgium and France. “DoCoMo said i-mode is available from 10 operators around the world and will be launched soon in four additional countries.”
