Reuters' To Offer G-8 News Online and Direct

Another step in Reuters’ efforts to become a direct-to-consumer brand: For the Group of 8 meeting, which starts on July 6, and related rock concerts known as Live 8, which begin Saturday, Reuters will offer multimedia news coverage that users can go to on a dedicated portion of its site.

Reuters’ media division had an 11 percent profit margin in 2004. Reuters Media president Chris Ahearn said he wanted to double that in five years.
