Predicting profitability in 2006 sounds a tad bold given that New West just signed its first local advertiser for its new Albuquerque-Santa Fe “node” but that’s what founder and editor in chief Jonathan Weber told the New Mexico Business Weekly. Keep in mind ads run $20 for a banner to $900 for a three-month launch package. Weber also told the paper he rejected the nonprofit approach for “the healthy discipline that comes from being a for-profit company. …I don’t think quality editorial and advertising are mutually exclusive by any means.”
