Well, they’ve done it. Jamster has created some friends for Crazy Frog, and they also have musical aspirations. The group, Prime8, is billed as “the first ever rap collective to launch purely in the mobile domain”. Deacon (a gorilla with attitude) and Dash (a smooth talking mandrill) will debut their “funky hip hop number ‘Monkey Pants'” next week in the UK and hope to emulate the success of the ‘Crazy Frog Vs Axel F’ single, still at number one on the charts last time I checked. A lot of people are going to be very annoyed if one is replaced with the other…
The Crazy Frog is the most polarized character to hit the world recently, receiving record numbers of complaints over ads for the ringtone and spawning games such as “Shoot Crazy Frog“, but has spent 4 weeks at the top of the singles chart and generated a reported 14 million pounds for Jamster, so many people think its great. It remains to be seen whether the Prime8 group will arouse the same level of passion…if Jamster can pull it off and get another Crazy Frog it will be the next step on the road from One-Hit-Wonder to Seriously-Cool-Zeitgeist. If they can pull it off…
“Other characters that are set to emerge from the Jamster! stable are The Party Bee, a dizzy busy buzzy little guy, the madcap Mr Chaos who leaves a trial of destruction in his wake, Nessie the Dragon who has a lot of love and the wacky Teddy the Bear.”
