Sprint has launched a Funmail application called “America’s Best Mobile Pix”, which involves people sending in pictures taken with their mobile phone cameras and voting on other people’s pictures…obviously the main benefit of this is getting people to take and send mobile pictures. The service costs $2.99/month (either by mobile or web), and the categories (which will apparently change periodically) include “Best Pets,” “Cutest Baby,” “Hottest Guy”, “Coolest Ride” and “Funniest Pix.” The winners of the “Cutest Babies” and “Coolest Pet” competitions will win $100 gift certificates (from BabiesRus and PETsMART respectively).
Sprint and Funmail see this as an ‘advertainment’ opportunity, so you can expect to see more sponsored contests with prizes and marketing messages…
