Microtune has announced the Mobile MicroTuner MT2262 which supports the L-band frequency range (1670-1675 MHz) licensed for mobile broadcast TV services in the U.S. The chips will be used in handsets intended to use Crown Castle‘s planned DVB-H network. The release says the chips have low power consumption which “enables mobile phone manufacturers to give viewers up to 10 hours of TV viewing time on 2-inch or 4-inch displays using 800mAh or 1300mAh batteries, respectively, for their DVB-H handsets.”
