The BBC is poised to release its open source internet video delivery system, called Dirac, to compete head on with proprietary favorites like WMA, Real and Quicktime.
Hexus: If development of the Codec continues at the current pace, it’s possible that in as little as six months the BBC will be able to start switching its streaming output away from these proprietary systems.
