Well. technically I’m back in LA, but some left over coverage from the MEM conference earlier this week in London: I heard about a rumor that Apple has been trying to poach J2ME developers from other mobile game publishers, and according to Mobile Games Analyst (an Informa newsletter), it may be planning to boost the gaming capabilities of the iPod, possibly by adding Java compatibility.
The iPod controls might be unsuitable for more complex games but more casual games, particularly the one-thumb-play” games being promoted by publishers such as I-Play (fka Digital Bridges), might be the ideal ones, according to MGA.
The MEM Conference coverage is sponsored by AG Interactive & Def Jam Mobile
