Personal Content Takes Up One-Third Of Mobile Activity

Merlin Mobile Media has done a study which found that personal content applications account for “a little more than one-third of user-initiated applications and activities on mobile phones…The personal content category includes applications that create personal content, such as cameras and personal information management applications like phone books and to-do lists.”
While I’m of the opinion that personal content will drive the use of mobile content in the future, I don’t think comparing something like a phone book to mobile games or mobile music is a fair comparison. For starters it’s free, but more importantly it’s pretty much necessary to use the phone book to make most phone calls. And making phone calls is the one thing that everybody does on mobile phones…
