At the MEM conference over the last two days in London, some of our readers asked me if I was a bit too harsh on MForma, the U.S. mobile content giant. I have written a bunch of stories about Mforma…its acquisitions, layoffs and sme senior exec appointments, and at this point, CEO Dan Kranzler, COO Jonathan Sacks and the PR people probably hate me.
But anyway, here’s my answser to it: ask people inside the company and they’ll frankly admit that the company is messed up. Right now. With all the acquisitions over the last two years and employee count at around 700, spread in US, Asia and Europe, it is by no means an easy task for them operationally. That’s why the company hired someone of the caliber of Jonathan Sacks. The company insiders believe that all it will take is cleaning up the operational structure and once things are in place, the company would be on the path to its IPO. That’s the process that is going on in the company…it remains to be seen whether the operational issues will overwhelm what is, at core, a good, solid company.
So there you go…me and MForma do get along.
